Wednesday Fiber Arts - Sewing + Felt
4 - 6 pm @ 1116 Arlington St.
Service Description
This is an afterschool studio class that focuses on the exciting world of fiber arts! Let your child take a deeper dive into the wonderful and rewarding mediums of sewing, embroidery, wet felting, and knitting. Children will learn a variety of stitches, practice skills that allow them to become more independent sewers such as tying a knot and threading a needle with a threader, and develop a foundation in wet felting. The learning experience is broken into two parts, the first one being a "tool box" lesson that everyone has together to ensure students are introduced to basic skills that will guide them, or act as "tools" in their creative exploration. After completing the tool box lesson, students will plan and propose projects to work on and have time to do so called "open studio." During open studio, children must exercise independence and responsibility as they get deeper into a medium that appeals to them. The studio offers an intimate creative environment in which I cater my instruction to support each child over time based on the child's interests and my observations. My goal is for your child to develop proficiency and independence in specific skills, and most importantly, confidence and courage in making decisions.
